2025 SCHOLARSHIP

INTRODUCTION
​

The Festival of the Little Hills is a not-for-profit organization which has provided a fund-raising venue for other local area non-profit groups since 1971.  The Festival of the Little Hills conducts one of America’s premier events known by the same name as the organization in August each year.  The event celebrates the rich history of St. Charles through crafts, craft demonstrations, antiques, food, music, family fun and more.

 

The Festival of the Little Hills may award five (5) one-year scholarships of $1,000.00 each to high school seniors from Lewis & Clark Career Center, St. Charles High School, St. Charles West High School, Duchesne High School, Lutheran High School, Orchard Farm High School, and Francis Howell North High School. The scholarship is open to all seniors who plan to attend St. Charles Community College, a four-year university, a trade or technical school, or achieve an equivalent from an accredited certification program for the arts. Extra attention will be given to those pursuing fields such as advanced manufacturing, automotive, construction, cosmetology, early education, health sciences, hospitality, law, and public safety.

    

ELIGIBILITY AND AWARD CRITERIA

 

  1. Grade Level/Residency: Must be a High School Seniors in grade 12 and must attend one of the High Schools listed in the Introduction above.

  2. Grades: Seniors must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

  3. Extracurricular Activities:  Must have participated in two or more extracurricular activities in high school.

  4. Recommendations:  Three required.  One (1) from a faculty member, one (1) from an activity sponsor, one (1) from a non-related adult, who has known the applicant for a minimum of 5 years.  Recommendation forms should be completed in their entirety and should be submitted via the scholarship recommendation link that will be sent to the recommender from the Festival Scholarship committee once application has been submitted but not later than March 4, 2025.  They should be filled out by recommenders no later than March 15, 2025.  

  5. Scholarship application:  Applicants must fill out the application which include education, work experience, extracurricular, volunteer activities and a response to a career aspirations question.  The written response should be between 100 and 300 words.

  6. College/University/Trade School/Technical School or Certified Program Attendance:  Scholarships will be awarded to students who are attending an accredited institution (college, university, trade school or technical school) OR is enrolled in a certified program. 

  7. Scholarship Money:  Money may be used for tuition, room and board and/or books. Any scholarship monies unused within one year of receiving the scholarship must be returned to the Festival of the Little Hills. All winning scholarship monies will be issued directly to the student's institution of choice to be credited to the student's account.

  8. Recipients:  Are asked to attend the General Membership Meeting on June 16, 2025, to receive their award.    

  9. Deadline:  Applications must be received no later than Monday, March 3, 2025 (11:59 pm).

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE SAME CONSIDERATION AS COMPLETED APPLICATIONS.  MAKE CERTAIN THAT ALL RECOMMENDATIONS ARE RETURNED BY YOUR SPONSORS ON TIME TO BE INCLUDED IN OUR CONSIDERATION.  

ALL SUBMISSIONS BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE FESTIVAL OF THE LITTLE HILLS.
